One of my favorite recipe books that I have at home was given to me by my friend Angie. It’s dedicated exclusively to spicy chicken recipes and I’ve tried several of them and all of them have been winners. The funny thing about the book is that is has this inscription written by Angie on the first page that basically says “thanks for your help”. Interestingly enough, neither Angie or I can remember when she gave me the book. Go figure.

Of all of the recipes in the book, my favorite is a
Spicy Caribbean Chicken Soup recipe. I’ve made this soup about ten times now and I’ve made several minor changes to the original recipe based on my own person tastes.
One of the best part of the soup (I think), is the inclusion of the yams which are also known as sweet potatoes. I actually had never eaten a yam before about 3 years ago and it goes to show what you’re missing. Yams are somewhat similar to carrots in appearance once cooked but are closer to potato in texture. I figure that this more or less explains the sweet potato name.
Anyway, back to the soup, I was going to say that it has a bit of a kick due to the chilli sauce but there is really no single flavour here just this combination of very flavourful sources like ginger, coconut milk and the fresh herbs. This recipe gets my highest rating so give it a try.

I’ve sent you some info on Sweet Potatoe vs. Yam. As an upcoming Chef, you really need to be up-to-speed on these things.
