Nearly Harvest Time

I just wanted to post an update on our home garden. As I had last posted at the very beginning of the season that we had just planted our backyard garden (well, really a back deck garden) and have been carefully tending the plants these past few months.

Cooking Up Memories of Paris

It’s been about 4 months since our last trip to Paris in April but with our next trip to Eastern Canada coming up quickly, we honestly haven’t been thinking about our favourite city too much lately. However, for one night last week we were reminded of a special lunch that we had on the last day of that trip.

Phat Food

Without a doubt, one of Barb and my favourite areas of Vancouver is Yaletown. Every time that we go to Yaletown we find ourselves enjoying both the unique shopping and eating establishments and make a point to go out of our way to try and find a restaurant to go to that we haven’t been to before. Last weekend we rode our bikes down to Yaletown and discovered such a new restaurant that gave us a taste of things to come in our upcoming Eastern Canada Adventure.

Old World Salt

As I’ve delved deeper and deeper into cooking over the years I have found that there are always limitless varieties of ingredients to choose from. The simplest of ingredients like salt seem to be no exception. As it so happens I happened to come across a free sample of a bag of salt directly from France and I have been trying it out in my kitchen for the past few weeks.

Anna’s Glorious Gazpacho

Barb and I were first introduced to gaspachio in Barcelona, Spain on our one and only Excellent Spanish Adventure in 2003. Known in most other parts of the world as gazpacho, this simple cold soup made with the freshest ingredients available takes just minutes to make but has been a favourite of ours. It took the introduction of some kitchen technology to make this dish a regular of mine 4 years after we first tasted it in Spain.
